Whats In The Box?!

Unbox Therapy kicks back again this week with a mystery box! Something that the guys on the channel are especially stoked about, I don’t think I’ve seen them this animated right from the start of the video before.

What’s in the box you ask? Well I guess you’ll have to click the Youtube link below to find out…

Okay so for those of you that didn’t click the link, and admittedly the thumbnail gives it away, I’ll bring you up to speed here, it is a Kickstarter project that is the first interactive chess board, and by interactive I don’t mean like those 80’s electronic machines that used algarithms to make you question the future of humanity as a plastic box beat you into check mate within four moves, but interactive like you can play against people around the globe, on the same board you have in front of you! Like 21st century interactive, people the future is here! When you see those sci-fi films that are all futuristic and we have hoverboards and liquid food by 2026 which obviously is going to happen, these classic games still exist, we still see things like Newtons Cradle kicking around offices and the old chess master is still relevant, and maybe this device is the key to that.

So you get the board out, load up the pieces and start up the app that accompanies the device, pair the device and boom you’re good to go. This thing moves the opponent pieces around the board like something out of Harry Potter, even down to evacuating the spaces for you when it takes your pieces, this thing is incredible and imagine where this can go, retro games getting this treatment could bring back Battleship, make Cluedo way more exciting and I mean the list is endless. How much better is that bit after Christmas dinner going to be, you can have several board games on the go playing with others trapped in their Christmas coma’s rather than having to play that game of Ludo that your Auntie Julie loves.

Check the kickstarter link attached to the video and as always we would love to hear your thoughts on this in the comments below!
