Google Planning Removal Of Google+ From YouTube

Google has announced that it plans to completely remove the need to sign into Google+ to comment on YouTube videos

The comments about the social networking and video websites came in an announcement¬†by Brad Horowitz, who is the managing director for Google’s photo and sharing services.

It has been reported on several websites and social media that YouTube fans have reacted with glee to the announcement.

Google had originally intended for the integration of the two platforms to go smoothly and become 1 massive force, however there was uproar from unhappy YouTube fans and some even went as far as making songs about how much Google+ was hated.

Mr Horowitz issued a statement on the planned changes;

“In the coming months, a Google Account will be all you’ll need to share content, communicate with contacts, create a YouTube channel and more, all across Google,”

“We want to formally retire the notion that a Google+ membership is required for anything at Google‚Ķ other than using Google+ itself,”

The YouTube community could welcome back many of the people who left due to the changes and some people on the video sharing site have said it was the best move the company have done in a long time.

Alex Brinnand, managing editor YouTube magazine TenEighty said;

“The initial uproar was just insane. There were songs made about Google+ and how much people disliked it,”

“For many creators this feel like it’s been a long time coming. People have been rooting for this to happen,”

“People felt like they were forced into joining Google+ and be active on it, and that’s not something they accepted.

“When Google made the announcement on Monday, I could feel a collective sigh of relief. It’s almost as though Google has given up the fight, it has let go.

“But at least it shows Google is listening.

“There’s sometimes a presumption that YouTube doesn’t listen to creators, but now it really had.

“This could be a turning point for the company,”

Its unclear when the changes are expected to take place, however those that were happy with the integration of Google+ need not carry out any actions as a new unlink button will be introduced in the near future.

It was argued by some that Google had added the social network to YouTube to give it a healthy boost due to low subscriber numbers unlike its rivals, Twitter and Facebook.
